Easy To Love

It’s a marriage of true minds
A marriage of true minds

Heart in hand, a one night stand and look at me.
A bastard child in the land of the free.
It might have been “She Loves You” in the summer of ‘64.
Or “I Want To Hold Your Hand” but they wanted more.

All we can do to claim our time,
keep it real, make it rhyme.
Stay with me babe, stay until the end.
The best is yet to come, on that you can depend.

Alert my next of kin, let ‘em know where I’ve been;
Out searching for my evil twin.
We used to be close now I don’t know where he could be. I
Guess he got tired of trying to put one over on me.

All we can do to claim our time,
keep it real, make it rhyme.
Stay with me babe, stay until the end.
The best is yet to come, on that you can depend.

It’s a marriage of true minds

Some they take your bread then ask you for praise.
Suggest that you eat cake for the rest of your days.
But you, you fill my plate and fit me like a glove.
And you’re so easy, so easy to love.

All we can do to claim our time,
keep it real, make it rhyme.
Stay with me babe, stay until the end.
The best is yet to come, on that you can depend.

Not My Circus

I pledged allegiance to her lips
Did my service with skill.
‘Till that day I came to grips
Make of that what you will.

Reckless road, twisted mind
Cheap cologne, cold sweat.
Not my monkeys, not my kind
Not my circus, not yet.

All the shoot, in a dive
Who hit John, round four.
You know it’s coming, number five.
Someone show me the door.

Crooked rhythms, blow by blow
Found the one at last.
One more in me before I go.
Make it loud, make it fast.

I pledged allegiance to her lips
Did my service with skill.
‘Till that day I came to grips
Make of that what you will.

Lips of Ruin

Rumor has it that you’re back in town. I’m
reachin’ for the hatches gonna batten them down.
High time we met eye to eye
over glasses of rocks and rye.
Maybe I’ll learn what’s been brewin’
behind those lips of ruin.

At five ‘o clock we’ll get our highball kicks
then you can play your dirty tricks.
Have some fun just like we used to do
I’ve waited years to be here with you.
Every night I’ve been sittin’ and stewin’
thinking ‘bout those lips of ruin.

There’s always more than meets the eye, say what you want those lips don’t lie.
What we had was more than a hit-and-run.
It’s high time we knew where we stand ‘cause things didn’t turn out like we planned,
And it’s not over until it’s done.

One of us had to hit the road
the situation was set to explode
Not a surrender more like a retreat.
Life without you would be incomplete.
I can see you’ve been chewin’
on those lips of ruin.

Let’s go down to the Salton Sea,
taste the end of history.
Watch the oil rigs bowing low
All the way to Mexico.
Diggin’, twistin’, screwin’
like lips of ruin.

There’s always more than meets the eye, say what you want those lips don’t lie.
What we had was more than a hit-and-run.
It’s high time we knew where we stand ‘cause things didn’t turn out like we planned,
And it’s not over until it’s done.

Someday soon we’ll see the sign where
you’ll go your way and I’ll go mine.
It could be around the next curve.
I might get what I deserve.
It’s gonna be my undoin’,
those lips of ruin.

Jackals on Hyde

Jackals on Hyde, mouths open wide,
Look happy to see you but they’re dying inside.

Jackals on Hyde, with their wounded pride.
Afraid of nothing but never having tried.

Jackals on Hyde, in the rising tide.
Up to their eyeballs but they take it all in stride.

Jackals on Hyde, their deals having died.
Can’t forget what was promised and how they laughed as they cried.

See how they run too close to the sun.
See what they done once they realize that the end had begun.

Jackals on Hyde, won’t be denied.
Keep a blade in their pocket next to the thorn in their side.

Jackals on Hyde, abide.
No choice but to believe that the street will provide.

See how they run too close to the sun.
See what they done once they realize that the end had begun.

Empire’s End

Get rich schemes, drive-thru dreams
a house in the hills.
Thin crooks with good looks
and a fistfull of pills. The

boom and the bust, the glory, the rust
and dawn’s early light.
Bought and sold with yesterday’s gold
it never was a fair fight.

Above the blue
My mind’s set on you, which isn’t very
Hard to do. The way is clear, the way is clear.

In comes the night, but the
way you look in the fading light makes me
feel all right.

Image makers, fault-line fakers
Tinseltown USA. They
came for the gravy, stayed for the show
at the all-you-can-eat buffet

Don Quixote, The Beachcomber,
sweet Don Ho. No
time to kill you got to tilt the mill
and get on with the show.

Above the blue
My mind’s set on you, which isn’t very
Hard to do. The way is clear, the way is clear.

In comes the night, but the
way you look in the fading light makes me
feel all right.

Urban sprawl, freeway crawl,
dust in your eye.
Pack the the car, hit the road ‘cause
the well’s run dry.

Your last cent will be spent, on
that you can depend. The
room’s a dump but the sunset’s to die for
at Empire’s End.
